The Blancpain 1735 is in the top range of the most complicated mechanical wristwatches, costing HK$6,000,000 per piece. Limited to only 30 pieces worldwide, each Blancpain 1735 watch takes approximately 18 months to produce, and only two Swiss watchmakers in the world are trained to manufacture this watch today. Blancpain holds a press conference in August at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and joining the event was the Swiss watchmaker Mr. Norbert Muttoni (one of the two who are able to produce Blancpain 1735). Also on the agenda is a special appearance by Mr. Tony Leung, the best actor at the Cannes Film Festival 2000, who was sporting the Blancpain 1735 timepiece.

This grand complication is the quintessence of six Blancpain masterpieces, embodying in magnificent fashion the philosophy of the famous Swiss watch manufacturer in Le Brassus. This masterpiece of masterpieces represents the universal formula of what is feasible today in micromechanics for the wrist: ultra-slim techniques, moonphase, split-second chronograph, perpetual calendar, tourbillon and minute repeater with a self-winding mechanism are combined in a single wristwatch.

Since 1735, Blancpain, the oldest watch brand in the world, has been bringing out a small collection of elegant watches - around 7,000 pieces per year under a single brand name, including the six most sought after complications, which represents a performance a long time in development - from purely watchmaking, technological and marketing standpoints.

The high point of the Masterpiece Collection by Blancpain is represented by three wristwatches with particularly rare and complex complications: the self-winding tourbillon with one week power reserve and 100-meter water resistance; the spilt-second flyback chronograph with perpetual calendar; and the tourbillon perpetual calendar.

"The Blancpain 1735 watch does honour to the history of our civilization"
For the first time, the German watch magazine. Chronos awards six stars for the results of a watch test: the Blancpain 1735 carries this honour with pride. It was in 1991 that this significant timepiece was presented for the first time. Within its unique case, the major features of all six of Blancpain's watchmaking masterpieces are combined.

The nec plus ultra in the top range of the most complicated mechanical wristwatches, the Blancpain 1735 stands out like a cross on a mountaintop. This grand complication is the quintessence of six Blancpain masterpieces, embodying in magnificent fashion the philosophy of the famous Swiss watch manufacturer of Le Brassus. This masterpiece of masterpieces represents the universal formula of what is feasible today in micromechanics for the wrist: self-winding split-second chronograph, tourbillon, minute repeater and perpetual calendar are combined in a single wristwatch which truly has no equal.. alone at the top! The Blancpain 1735 watch does honour to the history of our civilization.
